Job summary

WSP in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Lighting Designer to join a multidisciplinary lighting team. You will produce detailed layouts, drawings and specifications, support feasibility studies, and coordinate with manufacturers and contractors on projects across road, urban and infrastructure sectors.

You will guide junior members, engage with local authorities, and help shape proposals while maintaining high design quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Lighting Reality or Dialux lighting design software and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of external lighting standards, guidance, legislation and regulations.
• Experience in lighting design from conception through to issue for construction.
• Ability to coach and develop junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Liaison with colleagues within the Lighting and Energy Solutions team and clients.
• Production of detailed design layouts, engineering drawings and support documentation.
• Preparation of feasibility reports, option studies and specifications.
• Engagement with luminaire, column, controls and electrical manufacturers.
• Coordination with contractors including site support and RFIs/TQs.
• Non-intrusive site visits to support lighting assessments and drawings.
• Support with proposals and progress against milestones and budgets.
• Liaison with Local Authority and Strategic Road Network clients.
