Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a Senior Learning Mentor to work in a Pupil Referral Unit in Chorlton. The role involves leading and deploying learning mentors to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, managing a team of mentors, and working closely with staff to support student engagement and development.

Contract/Position Details

• Location – Chorlton – M21
• Type of work – Behaviour Support
• Start date – ASAP
• Duration – Full academic year
• End date – July 2024
• Contract type – Temporary to Permanent
• Hours – 8:30 am – 4 pm, Mon – Fri (term time only)

Main Duties

Support for pupils:

• Managing and delivering pastoral and SEN support
• Delivering sessions to groups of students
• Managing pupils not on a normal timetable
• Implementing EHCPs for students
• Providing 1:1 support for social development

Support for Teachers

• Liaising with other schools and bodies
• Planning and evaluating learning activities
• Providing pastoral support and mentoring

Line Management Responsibilities

• Managing Learning Mentors within the department
• Liaising between managers, staff, and mentors
• Holding team meetings

Previous Experience / Requirements

• Experience working with children/young people with SEND and behavioural difficulties
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience
• Ability to use relevant technology
• Knowledge of curriculum, learning programmes, and behaviour management strategies
• Understanding of support services/providers

• Enhanced child barred list DBS registered or willing to apply
