Job title: Learning Mentor Level 1

Salary: WPT Band 5 £28,163 - £30,060 (£24,805 - £26,475 pro rata)

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time plus inset days

Contract: Permanent

Location: Wickersley School and Sports College

To commence: As soon as possible

We are Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT), a multi-academy trust comprising eight primary schools, five secondary schools, one sixth form, and a Central Team. Our schools are based across Rotherham, South Yorkshire, with one in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

Role Overview

As a Learning Mentor, you will support targeted pupils by providing tailored assistance to overcome learning barriers and foster a positive educational journey. Your dedication will help students unlock their academic and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with targeted pupils, offering support to address individual or small group needs and help overcome obstacles to learning.
  2. Observe pupil progress, identify needs, and develop personalised learning plans.
  3. Mentor pupils on a one-to-one basis, including those excluded from the classroom, guiding them through learning plans and providing encouragement.
  4. Build strong relationships with families or guardians, collaborating to address issues such as attendance and behaviour, including conducting home visits when necessary.
  5. Review and assess learning plans regularly, track progress, and provide insights for reintegration into the classroom.
  6. Develop activities to support pupils, including accessing external resources and facilities.
  7. Collaborate with external organisations to leverage additional support services.
  8. Maintain accurate pupil records and report on achievements and progress.
