We are looking for a passionate and experienced Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist to join us supporting our Operations team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing training programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of our operations staff. Your efforts will ensure that our team is well-equipped with the necessary tools and expertise to excel in their roles and contribute to the overall success of Smith & Nephew. This position is key to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within our operations team.

This role is fixed term for 12 months.

Imagine stepping into a role where the primary mission is to empower and elevate an entire operations team. As a Learning & Development Specialist, the journey begins with designing and delivering comprehensive training programs tailored to the team's needs.

Collaboration with department heads is key to identifying specific training needs and creating customised learning solutions. The role involves evaluating the effectiveness of these programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics, ensuring they remain impactful and aligned with industry standards.

Staying ahead of the curve, the specialist keeps up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in learning and development. Managing and maintaining accurate training records and documentation provides a clear picture of the training landscape.

Supporting the onboarding process for new employees involves providing relevant training and resources, setting them up for success from day one. Throughout this journey, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the operations team driving them towards greater achievements and a brighter future.

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in a Learning & Development role, preferably within an operations or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theories.
  • Ability to work in partnership with other teams across the organisation
  • Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other training tools.
