Job summary

Graphic Packaging International is seeking an experienced Operations Leader for our Bardon site in the UK to optimise production output and lead lean initiatives. You will work with manufacturing teams to drive productivity, quality, health and safety, and cost reductions while reporting to the General Manager as part of the Senior Management team.

You will develop staff, manage budgets, and deliver reliable, on-time customer service with a focus on continuous improvement and strong leadership

Qualifications

Degree educated or equivalent in engineering, materials or manufacturing.
Must have senior management experience in heavy metals or process environment.
Able to communicate across all levels, from shop floor to board.
Lead continuous improvement and change management.
Proactive leader and team player with drive to succeed.
Proven track record in a similar management role.
Experience driving CI projects using Lean/Six Sigma: SMED, 5S, Kaizen, TPM.
First class communication skills.
Able to work in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
Computer literate: Word, Excel, Outlook/Email.

Responsibilities

Develop and use KPIs; lead the Operations Team to deliver high quality printed, cut, folded, window patched & glued cartons on time and in full.
Coordinate with internal departments and external contacts to ensure plant operations align with future directions.
Prioritize development, training and succession of staff.
Drive engagement and include next leaders in business meetings; coach direct reports.
Provide weekly and monthly reports on operational activities and monthly site performance to Graphic group.
Respond to operational problems 24/6 and resolve issues impacting production or quality.
Plan, implement and lead regular planned and preventative maintenance.
Develop managers individually and as teams for day-to-day management.
Improve customer quality and service levels to reduce complaints.
Set operational objectives and monitor performance.
Manage budgets and identify cost reductions (overtime, consumables, maintenance, waste).
Optimize equipment and resource usage for efficiency.
Ensure compliance with ISO and HASAWA etc.
Drive through and support the introduction of new systems and procedures.
