Job summary

NHS Orkney is seeking a Lead Adult Speech and Language Therapist to lead, develop and deliver the SLT service for adults across Orkney. The post involves line managing colleagues and delivering training in both acute and community settings.

The successful candidate will have specialist dysphagia and communication skills, a degree in SLT, Masters training, and at least three years in a senior role, with a full driving licence and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy/Pathology.
• Master’s level post-registration training and/or qualifications in dysphagia management.
• Minimum of three years’ experience working at a senior level.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and flexibly.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel within Orkney.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and deliver the Speech and Language Therapy service for adults.
• Line manage the SLT for Adults with Learning Disabilities.
• Develop training for acute and community settings.
• Work across The Balfour, care homes, patient homes and community settings.
• Collaborate with other services for pathways and management of conditions.
