Job summary

NHS Highland seeks a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist to lead the ALD SLT service in the Highlands. Based in Inverness, the post is Band 8a, 0.8 WTE, permanent, with leadership, development and strategic oversight responsibilities.

You will provide highly specialist input, supervise staff, and support education for professionals, carers and students, traveling as required across the North Highland area.

Qualifications

• Extensive ALD SLT experience with leadership and strategic planning.
• Excellent communication skills across MDTs and carers.
• Willingness to travel across the Highlands; driving licence required.
• BSc in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics with HCPC registration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the ALD SLT service for adults with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorders.
• Provide specialist clinical input and consultancy to adults with LD and the wider MDT.
• Coordinate day-to-day delivery and supervise less experienced therapists.
• Offer expert teaching and strategic guidance to the SLT team and partners.
• Deliver complex case management and contribute to quality improvement.
