Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer in the UK to provide technical leadership across regulated sectors. You will guide project delivery, mentor teams, and ensure compliance with IEC standards and sector directives. This hybrid role supports St Neots, Daresbury, or Aberdeen locations.

You will lead technical reviews, manage risks, and collaborate with customers to deliver high-quality solutions while driving innovation and energy transition technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process Control, Mechanical, Electrical or related) or HNC/HND with significant industry experience.
• Proven experience in engineering or technical roles within highly regulated industries (Power, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Nuclear or Offshore).
• Experience leading engineering teams or as a technical specialist.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority for assigned industry sectors and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead, mentor and develop multi-disciplinary engineering teams and promote technical excellence.
• Define technical approaches, quality standards, milestones and resource plans across projects.
• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments and compliance evaluations for safe, high-quality delivery.
• Lead regulatory change assessments and implement technical solutions.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex challenges.
• Build relationships with customers and stakeholders to provide technical leadership on bids and execution.
• Ensure delivery within scope, schedule, budget and quality targets while driving continuous improvement.
