Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is hiring a Senior Lead Engineer - Advanced Engineering in a hybrid role across multiple UK sites, including Manchester and others. You will help drive AI-driven engineering initiatives, lead teams, and deliver MVPs that scale in regulated environments.

You’ll work within the CTO’s Data & AI Unit, shaping strategy, mentoring engineers, and influencing patterns and architecture to enable trusted AI-powered products and services for customers and operations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in complex environments.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with multiple languages.
• Deep applied AI/ML and Generative AI experience, incl. RAG and AI agents.
• Experience designing AI solutions in regulated contexts, with reliability, security and explainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams delivering production‑grade AI solutions.
• Identify priority AI problems with business and platform teams.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies through applied research and prototyping.
• Deliver MVPs addressing critical challenges and scalable adoption.
• Coach engineers and align technical direction with stakeholders.
• Influence engineering standards and reusable patterns across the org.
