Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is recruiting a Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer (LCDAE) to provide formal design approval for Transmission and Distribution projects across the UK. You will lead independent design assurance, act as LCDAE for nominated schemes, and ensure deliverables meet National Grid procedures and CDM Regulations.

Based in the UK with hybrid working (3 days in the office), you will mentor CDAEs and engineers, lead design reviews, risk assessments and approval meetings, and drive

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical or civil engineering with Chartered Engineer status.
• Proven ability to act as LCDAE under National Grid procedures.
• Significant design experience in Transmission and Distribution infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as LCDAE for allocated projects, ensuring designs are developed, checked and approved.
• Lead interdisciplinary design reviews, hazard reviews and risk assessments.
• Review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, asset owners and suppliers.
• Provide clear technical direction and close out approval conditions.
• Support process improvements in design assurance and governance.
