Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Layout Engineer to join the Fuelling Block team. Hybrid role with primary locations Derby, Warrington or Manchester, and occasional travel to support project activities.

You will lead integration, layout and installation strategy for the Fuelling Block, coordinating across mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. You will influence design across the full lifecycle, from concept through to installation, commissioning and operation,

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing Chartership.
• Experience leading layout, integration or installation design activities in regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management and multidisciplinary design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Leading the development of integrated layout and installation solutions across the Fuelling Block, balancing safety, operability, maintainability and delivery.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary activities and managing interfaces across Mechanical Handling, Components, Systems Engineering, Civil, Architecture, Operations, Human Factors, CAD and Supply Chain.
• Driving technical decisions through design reviews and trade-off studies to resolve complex integration challenges.
• Developing and maintaining engineering delivery plans to meet milestones, cost, quality and schedule objectives.
• Identifying and mitigating technical risks and issues, capturing lessons learned for improvement.
• Supporting modular construction and installation strategies for efficient assembly, transport, installation and commissioning.
• Producing and approving technical documentation and regulatory submissions; presenting at governance reviews.
