Job summary

OLIX is seeking a Laser Architect to lead the multi-year laser design roadmap, applying deep III-V device expertise to shape architectural direction across epitaxy, device architecture, packaging, and reliability.

You will partner with electronics, optics, packaging, systems, and manufacturing to align on a coherent strategy, mentor senior engineers, and represent OLIX externally to strengthen talent and partnerships within a rapidly evolving photonics landscape.

Qualifications

PhD in physics, optics, electrical engineering, or materials science.
15+ years in semiconductor laser development.
Experience shaping architecture and long-term technical direction.
Deep command of III-V materials, epitaxy, device physics, and reliability.
Collaborative working style and ability to influence through evidence.

Responsibilities

Shape the architectural vision and multi-year direction for OLIX's lasers with the team.
Bring III-V device expertise into design decisions and establish design principles.
Tackle ambiguous, high-stakes device and integration problems.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align on a long-term laser roadmap.
Inform high-impact architectural trade-offs across epitaxy, device architecture, packaging, and reliability.
Mentor staff engineers and lead critical reviews and decisions.
Represent OLIX externally to strengthen talent, partnerships, and positioning.
