Job summary

Salience Labs Ltd. seeks a senior specialist to lead the development of III-V active devices integrated with silicon photonics for AI infrastructure. You will drive design, modelling, and device performance from epitaxy through fabrication, including test automation and characterisation strategies.

You will own the technology roadmap, coordinate external foundries, and work with packaging and reliability teams to qualify devices for data-centre-scale deployments.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with extensive hands-on III-V device experience.
• Strong track record from concept to fabrication and test.
• Deep understanding of semiconductor laser and amplifier physics.
• Experience with epitaxy and fabrication processes (MOCVD/MBE, lithography, etching, passivation).
• Experience with device characterization and test automation.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects and mentor teammates.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and modelling of III-V active devices, including epitaxial layer structure and optical mode design.
• Own the technology roadmap and device specifications for your area, translating system requirements into device targets.
• Lead mask design and tape-outs, including GDS layouts and test structures.
• Manage fabrication runs with external epitaxy and foundry partners; define process flows and review data.
• Define and lead the characterisation strategy at wafer, chip and integrated-PIC level.
• Analyse test data and drive design iterations to close performance gaps.
• Collaborate with packaging and reliability engineers on burn-in, ageing, failure analysis and qualification.
• Mentor engineers and help recruit and develop new team members.
