Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Senior/Principal Systems Engineer to lead the aircraft landing gear systems engineering activities in Bristol, UK. The role involves defining development plans, translating customer needs into system requirements, and ensuring verification and regulatory compliance.

On-site presence 2-3 days per week with eligibility for UK Security Clearance. Qualified candidates will have extensive aerospace systems engineering experience, strong requirements management, and experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Extensive experience in systems engineering or system development roles.
• Proven experience in requirements capture, analysis, and decomposition.

Responsibilities

• Lead the systems engineering activities for aircraft landing gear systems.
• Define and manage the system development plan in line with programme requirements.
• Capture, analyse, and translate customer needs into system and sub-system requirements.
• Oversee requirements validation and product verification activities.
• Manage the development of structures, extension/retraction systems, hydraulics, and electrical harnesses.
• Coordinate and manage equipment suppliers (e.g. actuators, hydraulic components, electrical systems).
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements.
