Job summary

The University of Oxford’s Chemistry Department is recruiting a Senior Building Facilities Technician to support day-to-day operation of the Chemistry estate on Mansfield Road, Oxford. You will undertake installation and maintenance of research equipment, care for building fabric, and support mechanical, electrical and laboratory systems, working independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Recognised technical qualification in a relevant area with hands-on maintenance experience.
• Experience with mechanical or electrical systems and a range of tools.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations is essential.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain research equipment and building fabric to support teaching and research.
• Respond to planned maintenance and reactive issues across the estate.
• Coordinate with contractors and liaise with academic staff and colleagues.
• Support safety, alarms and building management systems where required.
