Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd is seeking a Senior Kitchen Porter for our Ashtead Park site in Ashtead, Surrey. The role supports a busy school kitchen, ensuring hygiene, safety and high cleanliness standards across all shifts.

You will monitor stock, organise duties, assist chefs, and help with light food prep while maintaining excellent team collaboration and on-site parking. This is a full-time, permanent position with varied shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Kitchen Porter experience preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Experience in customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor chemical stock levels.
• Arrange and complete end-of-day checks.
• Oversee the work and duties of the Kitchen Porters.
• Create and organise daily schedules for the Kitchen Porters.
• Work closely with the Manager and Chefs to ensure kitchen runs smoothly.
• Assist Chefs with some food prep when needed.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness at all times.
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment.
• Clean heavy catering equipment per instructions and manage filters.
• Operate industrial dishwasher.

Hours: 40 per week

A day and boarding co-educational school for pupils from year 3 to 6th form in Ashtead Park, Surrey. Catering for 950 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of Breakfast, lunch, supper, tuckshop twice daily, 6th form café, internal and external hospitality. This is a mix of term time only, term time plus 4 weeks and 52 week depending on role and operates 7 days a week. Additional benefit to this location is free parking on site.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Kitchen Porter to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious location in Ashtead Park.

You’ll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.

• Manage and monitor chemical stock levels.
• Arrange and complete end-of-day checks.
• Oversee the work and duties of the Kitchen Porters.
• Create and organise daily schedules for the Kitchen Porters.
• Work closely with the Manager and Chefs to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly.
• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage.
• Great team player.
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times.
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment.
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials, including air filter and extraction systems.
• Operate industrial dishwasher.

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred.
