Methods in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Senior Java/SQL Developer to design, develop and support enterprise-grade applications and data solutions. You will work across the full software lifecycle, collaborating with architects, DevOps, and stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

This role offers 3 days per week in the office in Glasgow, with hybrid work options as appropriate. You will mentor junior developers and contribute to a high-performing engineering culture focused on

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong SQL/database design and tuning skills.
• Experience with Spring Boot and microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and event-driven patterns.
• Proven ability to mentor junior developers and collaborate in Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services
• Build and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions
• Develop scalable APIs and microservices architectures
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and performance issues
• Participate in code reviews and promote development best practices
• Ensure adherence to security, quality, and performance standards
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
• Support production systems and critical business applications
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to the technical growth of the team
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Agile delivery environments
