Job summary

iO Associates is urgently seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a major retailer's globally distributed engineering team. You will design and deliver high-performance Java applications, microservices and APIs to support scalable, real-time fulfilment across geographies.

You will work on a greenfield project, mentoring engineers, and contributing to CI/CD and DevOps practices while leveraging Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL/NoSQL databases and Azure cloud to build reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and microservices
• Strong API development and integration experience
• Experience with Kafka/event-driven architecture
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps
• Strong understanding of software design, testing and TDD
• Experience working with cloud technologies, ideally Azure
• Familiarity with distributed systems and scalable architectures
• Ability to design high-performance Java applications and services
• Mentorship or coaching of junior engineers

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance Java applications and microservices
• Build and integrate APIs and distributed systems
• Develop scalable, resilient and highly available solutions
• Work across the full software lifecycle, from design through to production
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues in a mission-critical environment
• Work closely with data, hardware and operations teams
• Contribute to CI/CD, automation and DevOps practices
• Support and mentor less experienced engineers
