Opus Recruitment Solutions Ltd in Newcastle is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for a 12-month FTC with a hybrid working pattern (3 days onsite). The role offers a pathway to permanent employment after the initial contract and invites you to own technical delivery while mentoring peers and remaining hands-on with modern Java.

Responsibilities include designing large-scale Java solutions, building Spring Boot microservices, and working with AWS cloud-native architectures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years commercial Java development experience.
• Proficient in Java (JDK 11+), Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Experience with AWS and REST APIs.
• Familiar with CI/CD and Agile/Scrum delivery.
• Experience reviewing code and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing large-scale Java solutions.
• Building and maintaining Spring Boot microservices.
• Working with AWS-hosted cloud-native architectures.
• Leading technical workstreams and supporting solution delivery.
• Mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers.
• Collaborating with architects, DevOps and senior stakeholders.
• Supporting delivery through the full software life cycle.
