Job summary

GTC Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Java Developer to join a large-scale digital transformation programme delivering critical public services. You will work hands-on with Java/Spring Boot while providing technical leadership and mentoring across teams.

Locations include Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham with ~60% office attendance and a hybrid model. SC clearance eligibility is required for the role.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Java development experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience leading software engineering teams and mentoring.
• Experience with AWS, MongoDB, and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and modern software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, maintainable software using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and develop reusable libraries, services and APIs.
• Contribute to scalable and resilient digital services.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams.
• Review code and designs to maintain standards.
• Coach and mentor junior/mid-level developers.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Delivery and other teams.
• Design and support system integrations and testing.
• Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure and production issues.
• Provide 3rd-line support and occasional out-of-hours support.
