Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Java Developer to join a cloud transformation programme. You will design and develop Java-based microservices in a Scrum team, ensuring code quality and robust testing across AWS-hosted environments.

The role involves collaborating with architects and product owners, promoting best practices in CI/CD, and mentoring junior engineers. On-site presence 2–3 days per week in distributed UK locations.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java 8+.
• Experience building cloud-based microservices.
• Experience using Git-based source control tools such as Bitbucket/Git.
• Agile/Scrum delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java-based microservices.
• Write clean, scalable and well-tested code.
• Perform unit testing and support integration testing activities.
• Conduct and approve peer code reviews (PR reviews).
• Manage code promotion through multiple environments into production.
• Support CI/CD best practices and release processes.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects and Scrum team members.

Java Developer | AWS Microservices I SC Cleared

£280-£500 per day (Inside IR35/Umbrella)

Contract: 14 months
Locations: London, Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow (2-3 days on site p/w)
Security Clearance: Existing SC or CTC preferred. SC eligibility required.
We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a high-profile cloud transformation programme, working within a Scrum team responsible for developing and supporting services across a large-scale AWS-hosted microservices architecture.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-level systems, contributing across the full software development lifecycle while collaborating with highly skilled engineers in a modern cloud environment.
