Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting, a multi-award-winning digital consultancy based in the UK, is seeking a Lead Java Developer to drive design, development and delivery of scalable backend systems.

You will lead engineering teams using Java (8/11/17+), Spring Boot and microservices, shaping cloud-native architectures and API-first solutions across government and enterprise domains. This hybrid role is Swansea-based with three days onsite weekly.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience with Java.
• Extensive Java and Spring Boot expertise and microservices design.
• RESTful API design, development, and integration experience.
• Strong ORM experience with Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ messaging.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Docker and Kubernetes hands-on experience.
• Relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design, development, and maintenance of backend apps using Java and Spring Boot.
• Define coding standards, best practices, and architectural direction.
• Mentor and guide developers throughout the SDLC.
• Drive cloud-native, microservices-based architecture and API-first development.
• Ensure security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, QA, and DevOps.
