Job summary

Wolviston Management Services is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design, build and maintain enterprise Java applications. You will work directly with clients to translate requirements into robust technical solutions, ment or junior staff and collaborate with DevOps, QA and Product owners.

The role emphasizes modern Java stacks, cloud, containers, and AI-assisted tooling. The position is based in the United Kingdom with hybrid working and monthly office attendance in Newcastle or Edinburgh,

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing Java applications.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework and Hibernate/JPA.
• Designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong software engineering principles and agile delivery.
• Proficiency with Git and modern workflows.
• Customer-facing consultancy experience is a plus.
• Experience in Financial Services, FinTech or Wealth Management is preferred.
• Exposure to AWS/Azure/GCP and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications.
• Collaborate with clients to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technical design.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and high-performance code.
• Work in Agile delivery teams and conduct code reviews.
• Mentor junior developers and coordinate with DevOps and QA.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and client needs.
