Job summary

A global technology & software product company in London is hiring a Senior Java Engineer to join the Platform Team. You will design and build distributed services, work with Kafka, and deploy on Kubernetes, enabling analytics and monitoring tools used worldwide.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of backend Java experience, strong core Java knowledge, and hands-on experience with Kafka and Kubernetes. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary and extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' backend Java experience in distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of core Java, data structures and concurrency.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event streaming (Kafka Streams, Flink or Spark).
• Practical Kubernetes experience, including troubleshooting production issues.
• Experience tuning JVM performance (garbage collection, CPU hotspots, heap dumps).

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed services from the ground up using core Java.
• Develop event-driven systems with Kafka at scale.
• Orchestrate deployments on Kubernetes and manage stateful services.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with a global team on platform evolution.
