Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for a fully remote, UK-based contract role. The position focuses on building a greenfield iGaming platform for a major global organization, delivering scalable Java services and high-throughput systems.

You will contribute to architectures, work across the full SDLC, and shape engineering practices while operating outside IR35 on an initial six-month engagement with a daily rate of up to £500.

Senior Java Engineer – Contract

Location: UK-based, Fully Remote
Contract: 6 months initially
Rate: Up to £500 per day
IR35: Outside IR35

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join a major technology transformation and help build a brand-new greenfield iGaming platform for a global organisation generating over $1 billion in annual turnover.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join during a significant period of growth, with the wider engineering function being built out to 50+ engineers. You’ll play a key role in designing and delivering a highly scalable, high-performance platform from the ground up.

iGaming or betting platform experience is essential for this role.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and developing high-quality, scalable Java applications and services.
• Contributing to the architecture and technical direction of a new greenfield iGaming platform.
• Working across the full software development lifecycle, from design through to production.
• Building highly available, resilient and performant services capable of operating at significant scale.
• Collaborating closely with other engineers, architects, product teams and technical stakeholders.
• Contributing to engineering standards, best practices and automated testing.
• Supporting the development of a rapidly growing engineering team and helping shape how the platform is built.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience as a Senior Java Engineer / Senior Java Developer.
• Extensive experience developing applications and services using Java.
• Proven experience working on iGaming, online gambling, sportsbook or betting platforms – this is essential.
• Experience building highly scalable and high-throughput systems.
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience working with APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with cloud technologies and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, clean code and automated testing.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technically ambitious environment.
