Job summary

A leading technology consultancy seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to build scalable backend services in a hybrid work environment. This role offers a 6-month contract at up to £600 per day, outside of IR35 regulations.

Senior Software Engineer – Backend (Java) | 6-Month Contract | Hybrid – 2 Days in Office | £600 p/d Outside IR35

I’m working with a leading technology consultancy looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering cutting-edge, cloud-native platforms. You’ll design and scale backend services, solve complex problems, and take full ownership of your work from design through to production.

What You’ll Do

• Build scalable backend services in Java & Spring Boot
• Work with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform
• Deliver robust microservices end-to-end
• Drive clean code, CI/CD & automated testing best practices
• Mentor engineers & contribute to a collaborative culture

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years backend engineering experience
• Experience in microservices & distributed systems
• Cloud knowledge (AWS preferred)
• Problem-solving mindset & ownership mentality

Hybrid – 2 days a week in Manchester or London

6-month contract – Up to £600 p/d – Outside IR35
