Job summary

Tesco PLC is seeking an experienced Java engineer to design and build end-to-end JVM-based systems. You will translate product requirements into clean, maintainable code, implement tests, and drive scalable architecture in a hybrid UK-based team.

You will work with Azure/AWS, Kafka, and NoSQL/SQL databases, contribute to infrastructure, and mentor peers while collaborating with product stakeholders to deliver value across channels.

Qualifications

• Extensive Java 8+ experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end JVM-based services.
• Translate product requirements into maintainable code.
• Write tests and follow TDD/BDD.
• Apply SOLID principles for scalable design.
• Design, build, deploy and maintain infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to refine features.
• Support production systems and conduct root cause analysis.
• Mentor and support engineers, fostering learning.
• Share knowledge across engineering teams.
• Prototype new tools and technologies.
