Job summary

Tesco UK is building a robust, internet-facing HTTP API powering pricing and promotions across all Tesco channels. You will design and implement end-to-end JVM-based systems, translating product requirements into maintainable code while following TDD/BDD practices.

Qualifications

• Deep JVM and Java ecosystem expertise with Java 8+.
• Hands-on cloud experience on Azure, AWS or similar.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database proficiency.
• Proven ability to scale distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Agile methods (Scrum/Kanban).
• Exposure to reactive programming paradigms.
• Bonus: eCommerce or search system experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end systems using JVM expertise.
• Translate product requirements into well-structured code.
• Write test-driven features following TDD/BDD.
• Apply SOLID principles for scalable design.
• Design, build, deploy and maintain required infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to refine features.
• Support production systems, investigate incidents, conduct RCA.
• Mentor engineers and promote continuous learning.
• Share knowledge across the engineering community.
• Prototype and evaluate new tools and technologies.
