Job summary

Tesco is seeking Senior Software Development Engineers to develop software applications, owning development and support processes across the lifecycle. Your work will aim to simplify complex tasks for customers, delivering robust, scalable solutions with a security-first mindset.

You will work with Java and JVM languages, Spring Boot/Micronaut, Azure and Terraform, and contribute to CI/CD practices, documentation, and system design.

Qualifications

• Solid experience delivering Java or other JVM languages; familiarity with JS/TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Good understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos DB).
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (Splunk, xMatters, New Relic).
• Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
• Good English communication skills
• Experience in system design
• Experience in taking ownership of a project and leading a team from technical/ project perspective
• Proactive attitude

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software solutions, with proficiency in Java (Spring Boot or other frameworks).
• Work with Microsoft Azure and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) or willingness to learn.
• Implement and advocate CI/CD best practices for seamless software delivery.
• Maintain high-quality documentation to support development processes and system design.
• Utilize data-driven decision-making, balancing short-term and long-term goals.
