Job summary

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is hiring a Senior Java Developer for a 12 month Inside IR35 contract. Hybrid work model across Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle, with DWP Digital delivering modern services for citizen journeys.

You will build Spring Boot microservices, deploy cloud-native solutions in AWS, and champion TDD within Agile squads. Security clearance and UK eligibility may apply.

Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience (Java 17+).
• Spring Boot expertise with REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience in TDD using JUnit and Mockito.
• Proficiency in Agile delivery environments.
• Cloud-native development on AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance Spring Boot microservices and scalable cloud services.
• Develop REST APIs and microservices with a focus on reliability.
• Write automated tests using TDD and modern frameworks.
• Contribute to event-driven architectures and integrations.
• Own complex features from design through delivery and review code.
