Job summary

Network IT is seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer for a 12-month contract. This hybrid role allows work from multiple UK office locations or remotely.

You will design, develop, and support software products, collaborating with architecture, engineering, and product teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions. The role focuses on modern engineering practices, code quality, and production stability.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Java software development for medium- to high-impact environments.
• Proficiency with Spring Boot and modern backend engineering practices.
• Hands-on cloud experience, preferably AWS.
• Strong understanding of event-driven or distributed systems, ideally Kafka.
• Experience with MongoDB and NoSQL databases.
• Proven ability to design, code, test, and document complex programs, services, or scripts.
• Excellent mentoring skills to guide others in modern software engineering standards.
• Experience designing systems with medium technical/business complexity and reviewing designs.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead strategies for building reusable Java libraries, services, and components.
• Shape medium to long-term technical strategies for product lines and wider teams.
• Collaborate with architecture/engineering to design robust, scalable systems.
• Champion software engineering best practices, including testing and documentation.
• Identify and resolve infrastructure and production issues with minimal downtime.
• Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the engineering community.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
