Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a 12-month contract to design, build and support software underpinning digital services.

The role offers hybrid working across multiple UK office locations with a daily rate of 700-750 GBP inside IR35, and a focus on scalable, secure systems.

You will mentor teams and shape technical direction across architecture, engineering and product squads.

Qualifications

• Experience in Java software development in complex environments.
• Hands-on with Spring Boot and modern backend practices.
• Cloud experience, preferably AWS.
• Experience with event-driven or distributed systems (Kafka).
• Experience with MongoDB.
• Ability to guide others in applying modern software engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead strategies for building reusable Java libraries, services and components.
• Shape medium to long term technical strategies for product lines and the wider software engineering community.
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to design robust, scalable systems.
• Champion software engineering best practice including clean code, testing and documentation.
• Identify, investigate and support resolution of infrastructure and production issues.
• Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the wider engineering community.
