Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java 17+/21 and Spring Boot. You will collaborate in Agile teams, mentor developers, and drive improvements in software delivery practices.

Responsibilities include building RESTful APIs, microservices, cloud-native solutions on AWS, and ensuring quality through automated testing and CI/CD. Strong problem-solving and stakeholder engagement are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications using Java 17+/21.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and related ecosystem frameworks.
• Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices-based architectures.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing patterns.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, including query optimisation and data modelling.
• Good understanding of modern software architecture principles, including microservices, domain-driven design (DDD), CQRS, and API-first development.
• Experience with cloud-native development and deployment, ideally within AWS, including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECR, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and orchestration/deployment pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using JUnit, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
• Experience using Git and GitHub
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.

• Contribute to design, development, and maintenance of enterprise applications and platforms.
• Collaborate across Technology and business to improve systems and deliver new capabilities.
• Gather, analyse, and document requirements and translate into user stories and technical solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain code for web, mobile, and desktop apps using Agile practices.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues including incidents and escalations.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making for scalable solutions.
• Participate in design reviews and peer code reviews.
• Support releases, deployments, and platform enhancements.
• Work with QA teams to meet functional, performance, security, and reliability standards.
