Job summary

FIS Global is seeking a skilled engineer to join the Worldpay by FIS team in a full-time capacity. You will implement AWS-hosted Java solutions, focusing on compute, storage, observability and security, while shaping a hybrid cloud/on-premises architecture.

Initially hands-on, you’ll move toward a system architecture role as the cloud journey advances, partnering with engineers to migrate data and optimize delivery processes across the platform.

Qualifications

• Experience building enterprise-grade applications using Java.
• Strong knowledge of functional programming in Java.
• Experience working with AWS, having AWS certifications.
• Experience building applications with embedded CI/CD for frequent and reliable delivery.
• Desire to move into a system architecture role.
• Able to explain designs and code to architects and developers.
• Excellent communication skills and a desire to impart knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Implement AWS-hosted Java solutions focusing on compute, storage, observability, reliability and security.
• Design and build a hybrid cloud/on-premises architecture aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Initially hands-on coding, then transitioning to a system architecture role as cloud journey progresses.
• Create a data migration solution from on-premises to cloud.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers to guide them on the cloud journey.

About the team

Billing and Funding within Worldpay by FIS has built a pricing and billing engine using big-data tech, we are almost at the end of the first phase of an exciting journey re-engineering our core payments platform to be more cost effective, scalable and cloud ready. The next phase of our journey is a move to the cloud, making our software cloud native, our infrastructure code and using CI/CD to increase our speed of delivery.

What you will be doing

• You will be responsible for implementing AWS hosted, Java solutions with a focus on compute, storage, observability, reliability, and security.

• You will be responsible for designing and building out a hybrid cloud / on-premises architecture in line with the AWS well architected framework.

• Initially the role will be hands-on, delivering code before moving into a system architecture position as our cloud journey progresses.

• You will create a solution for migrating data for applications from on-premises to cloud.

• You will need to work closely with our team of software engineers, bringing them on the cloud journey with a guiding hand.

What you bring

• Experience of building enterprise grade applications using Java

• Strong knowledge of Functional programming in Java

• Experience working with AWS, having achieved AWS certifications.

• Experience of building applications with embedded CI/CD to ensure frequent and reliable software delivery.
