Job summary

FIS is seeking a Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering to shape the cloud infrastructure strategy and lead a team of cloud engineers. You will own the platform vision, roadmap and backlog, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure cloud services.

You will drive IaC, CI/CD, governance and cost optimization while mentoring engineers and aligning priorities with business objectives. This role expects strategic thinking and hands-on leadership in AWS environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading cloud platform engineering and IaC in AWS multi-account environments.
• Experience owning or shaping a product/platform/service roadmap.

About the role:

The Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization’s cloud infrastructure strategy, development, and operational excellence. This role combines technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and Product Owner accountability to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions that support business objectives. You will oversee a team of cloud engineers, own and communicate the platform vision and roadmap, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-performing cloud services.

**About the team:**

You will be part of a cloud engineering team that builds and supports foundational AWS capabilities used by product and platform engineering teams across the organization. The team focuses on cloud governance, automation, security, observability, cost management, and continuous improvement. As Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering, you will help the team deliver consistent engineering practices while acting as Product Owner for the service, balancing stakeholder, operational, and project priorities against business objectives, team capacity, and budget.

What you will be doing:

• Own, define and communicate the cloud platform vision, strategic roadmap and refined backlog, aligning platform capabilities with business objectives, customer needs, enterprise architecture, team capacity and budget.
• Prioritize stakeholder, project, operational and continuous-improvement demands, providing clear direction and recommendations on scope, timelines, resources, costs, acceptance criteria and delivery status.
• Lead the end-to-end product and platform lifecycle, including solution direction, delivery oversight, operational support, escalation management, lifecycle refresh and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging cloud technologies to maintain competitive advantage, reduce unplanned work and improve service outcomes.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of cloud engineers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance reviews, set goals and support career development for team members.
• Oversee and contribute to the design, deployment and maintenance of scalable, secure and resilient cloud platforms.
• Ensure platform reliability, observability and performance through automation and best practices.
• Drive the continued use of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and DevOps principles.
• Implement and enforce cloud governance frameworks, policies and standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and corporate requirements.
• Collaborate with security teams to manage risk and respond to incidents.
• Lead in adopting agentic development and delivery within and across teams.
• Collaborate with Cloud Business Office teams to help manage cloud platform budgets, forecasts and cost optimization initiatives, including relationships with cloud service providers and third-party vendors.
• Serve as the primary liaison between platform teams, senior stakeholders, clients, suppliers and project management, translating business needs into technical requirements and technical considerations into clear business context.

What you will need:

• Expert-level knowledge and skills within cloud engineering or a related technical discipline, with broad understanding of adjacent areas within the job function.
• Five or more years’ experience leading cloud platform engineering and Infrastructure as Code, particularly in AWS multi-account environments, Terraform, golden paths, and self-service platform capabilities.
• Experience managing a team, including experienced technical colleagues.
• Experience owning or shaping a product, platform or service roadmap, including backlog prioritization, stakeholder alignment and delivery oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to make improvements to processes, platforms or products that enhance performance and function.
• Strong capability to solve difficult or complex problems and influence others outside your own job area on policies, practices or procedures.
• Experience with cloud networking, security, governance, and compliance , AWS services. Examples include VPC, IAM, AWS Organizations, centralized logging, security services, encryption, and PCI-regulated environments.

Added bonus if you have:

• Experience driving engineering automation and delivery modernization , including CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins and GitHub, container platforms such as Kubernetes/EKS, serverless services, operational observability, and developer enablement.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant cloud certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS DevOps Engineer.
