Job summary

BT Group is seeking a talented Software Engineer to design, develop, and test back-end components for the broadband network. You will design deployment strategies for distributed services, lead component design, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires coordinating with vendors and BT teams to meet specifications and to package software for automated deployment. You will contribute to CI/CD pipelines, collaborate in an agile environment, and proactively mitigate security risks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building robust software applications using Java and Python.
• Strong understanding of APIs (REST) and system integration.
• Experience with containerized deployment environments and CI/CD tooling.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and repeatable delivery pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test software components for the broadband network.
• Design deployment strategies for multi-component, fault-tolerant services.
• Lead design of new components and mentor junior team members.
• Liaise with vendors and BT teams to ensure components meet specifications.
• Represent the team in cross-team projects and package software for automated deployment.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and respond to security vulnerabilities.
