Job summary

BT Group is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, test and deploy backend components for BT's Fixed Networks. You will work on multi-component, fault-tolerant services and mentor junior teammates within a hybrid Ipswich/Birmingham role.

You’ll collaborate across BT teams, implement automated deployments, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our delivery pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins and Git in an agile setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in robust software development with Java and Python.
• Strong grasp of APIs (REST) and system integration.
• Experience with containerized deployment (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git/Jenkins).
• DevOps mindset with repeatable delivery using modern tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test software components for broadband network systems.
• Design deployment strategies for multi-component, fault-tolerant services.
• Lead design of new components and mentor teammates.
• Collaborate with vendors and BT teams to meet specs and integrate systems.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment workflows.
