Job summary

BT Group in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Java Full-Stack Engineer to design, develop and evolve platforms, APIs and services powering our digital channels. You will work within a high-performing agile team, focusing primarily on backend engineering while contributing to some frontend work.

The role is hybrid with three days in the office and two days working from home, based in Birmingham. You will leverage Java 17, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native practices to deliver scalable,

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17, Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA) with excellent coding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable microservices using Java 17 and Spring Boot.
• Design, build and support RESTful APIs.
• Develop clean, efficient and maintainable code aligned to engineering best practice.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps ways of working.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, designers and engineers to deliver business outcomes.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support production services.
• Contribute to cloud-native application development and modern engineering practices.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions across the team.
• Contribute to front-end development activities using React where required.

As a Senior Java Full-Stack Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and evolving the platforms, APIs and services that power our digital channels. Working within a high-performing agile engineering team, you'll develop scalable, secure and resilient solutions using modern engineering practices and cloud-native technologies.

While the role includes some full-stack development, the primary focus is backend engineering, building APIs and microservices that support critical customer and payments journeys.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale platforms, influence technical direction and contribute to engineering excellence across BT.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham (Snowhill), with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from Home.

What you’ll be doing
