Job summary

The engineers in Tesco Technology's team build the APIs that securely authenticate customers across Tesco around the globe: online, over the phone, and in-store. You'll focus on making experiences streamlined by exploring innovative authentication factors to assess risk in real time.

The stack includes Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Kubernetes, Azure and Kafka. We maintain a DevOps culture with CI/CD, testing through TDD, and a focus on resilience at scale, serving billions of

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in at least one major programming language (Java preferred) and ecosystem to design, build and support production systems independently.
• Hands-on experience of building and supporting production Java applications.
• Understanding of SOLID principles and how to apply them to create well-structured, maintainable software.
• A DevOps mindset, with experience of supporting production systems, resolving incidents, and performing root cause analysis.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building and maintaining high-performing mission-critical systems.
• Collaborating with product managers to translate customer and business requirements into technical solutions.
• Producing test-driven features and demonstrating familiarity with the TDD cycle.
• Supporting production systems, resolving incidents, and performing root cause analysis.
• Sharing knowledge with the wider engineering community.
• Mentoring and supporting and helping junior engineers within the team.
