Job summary

State Street is seeking an experienced Java API Developer to join our Digital Asset team in London. You will design, build, and operate secure REST APIs for custody, tokenization, and settlement workflows, aligning with enterprise API standards and integration hub patterns.

You will work closely with product, architecture, and security to deliver policy-aware integration, robust data interfaces, and production-ready services in a regulated, high-availability environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building Java backend REST APIs in financial services.
• Hands-on with Spring Boot and Spring components used for API services.
• Experience deploying containerized Java microservices on Kubernetes (AKS).
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle) and ORM/data access patterns.
• Design and maintain API contracts with versioning and backward compatibility.
• Security-minded API engineering in regulated environments.
• Proven production-grade services with testing and observability.
• Ability to work with multi-location engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and REST APIs.
• Build API services that integrate via an Integration Hub and secure gateways.
• Implement APIs aligned to internal standards (security, docs, platform requirements).
• Partner with product, architecture, and security for integration patterns.
• Contribute to digital asset data patterns and data interfaces for reports/analytics.
• Build and maintain automated tests (unit/integration).
• Support production readiness: observability, incident triage, performance tuning.
• Collaborate across teams to drive clear API contracts for integrations.
