Job summary

State Street in London seeks a Java API Developer to join our Digital Asset development team. This hands-on software engineering role designs, develops, tests, and supports RESTful APIs and backend services in a financial services environment.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build robust, scalable, and secure digital asset products that meet business and technical requirements; familiarity with Java frameworks and secure API practices is expected.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Java backend development with REST API delivery.
• Experience implementing secure APIs and data handling in financial services.
• Familiarity with SDLC, code reviews, testing, and Agile delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and REST APIs.
• Implement APIs with design, security, versioning, and documentation in mind.
• Collaborate with business and tech stakeholders to clarify requirements in Agile sprints.
• Write automated tests (unit/integration) and participate in peer reviews.
• Support production readiness, monitoring, and incident handling with senior guidance.
• Maintain technical API documentation including endpoints, payloads, dependencies, and notes.
