Job summary

Thames Water seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead IT and technology-enabled business change initiatives within the Digital and Transformation teams. You will define scope, plans, budgets, and resources while guiding cross-functional teams of PMO, Business Analysis, Test Management, Service Introduction, and Solution Architecture to deliver outcomes.

You will govern projects, manage risks, dependencies, and costs, and ensure alignment with the organisation's delivery framework.

Qualifications

• Experience managing IT and digital projects across full lifecycle.
• Proven ability to define project objectives, develop delivery plans, and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong stakeholder management with diplomacy and assertiveness when prioritising.
• Experience managing project budgets, resources, risks, dependencies, and change control.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to produce clear project documentation.
• Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills for competing demands.
• Experience leading project boards, steering groups, and governance reviews.
• Proactive and collaborative approach focused on accountability and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver IT and technology-enabled business change projects.
• Define project scope, objectives, delivery plans, budgets, and resource requirements.
• Engage stakeholders and ensure effective communication and decision-making.
• Establish and lead project review meetings covering cost, schedule, resources, RAID, and RAG status.
• Produce and review project status reports with progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery performance.
• Manage resources, forecasting, allocation, mentoring, and team development.
• Participate in PMO assurance activities and Thames Digital Gate 0 process.
• Maintain project cost models and ensure costs stay within approved tolerances.
• Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and changes with escalation where needed.
• Implement and maintain project governance, controls, and reporting standards.
• Ensure deliverables are signed off; participate in closure and lessons learned.
