Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking a Lead IT Project Manager to oversee strategic IT programmes across infrastructure, digital services, cyber security and computing. You will shape delivery strategy, influence investments and drive organisational capability to deliver fusion-related technology projects.

You will lead cross-functional teams, manage governance, risks and benefits, and mentor professionals while promoting continuous improvement and effective stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Degree in IT, Computing or equivalent experience in project delivery.
• Practitioner-level project management qualification (APM/PRINCE2/MSP).
• Extensive experience delivering complex IT, digital, infrastructure or change projects.
• Strong expertise in governance, risk, financial and benefits management.
• Experience developing and implementing project governance frameworks and delivery standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex IT projects and programmes from initiation to completion.
• Provide leadership across multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to portfolio planning, prioritisation and resource allocation.
• Develop and improve project governance frameworks and delivery standards.
• Advise senior stakeholders on strategy, risks and benefits.
• Coordinate delivery across technical and business functions and resolve priorities.
• Lead benefits realisation activities to deliver measurable value.
• Coach and mentor project professionals and support capability development.
• Support succession planning and development of future leaders.
