Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is seeking a Commercial lead to drive IT procurement for major projects, advising senior stakeholders and ensuring compliant, value-for-money outcomes.

The role requires MCIPS qualification (or study), extensive public sector procurement experience, and the ability to manage multiple tenders while aligning with the Procurement Act 2023. Onsite presence is expected with flexible working options.

Qualifications

• MCIPS qualification or studying towards MCIPS.
• Significant experience in public sector procurement and familiarity with UK procurement frameworks.
• Experience leading complex, high-value procurement from strategy to award and management.
• Strong ability to develop procurement strategies and deliver value for money.
• Ability to provide expert commercial advice to senior stakeholders and manage multiple procurements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex IT procurement activities.
• Deliver end-to-end commercial support for major projects.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned to project milestones.
• Manage tendering processes: pre-qualification, evaluation, negotiation and award.
• Monitor supplier performance against cost, quality and time objectives.
• Provide commercial guidance to managers and senior stakeholders.
• Identify process improvements to enhance procurement performance.
• Mentor Commercial team members and support their development.
• Build relationships with internal customers and external suppliers.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with public sector legislation.
