Job summary

NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking an experienced Senior IT Specialist to join its Digital Department. You will maintain and support the region-wide computing, voice, and data infrastructure across 5,000 users and 400+ servers, ensuring high availability, security, and resilience of critical systems.

The role requires advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN, server environments (Microsoft Server, VMware, Unix/Linux), network devices, and security practices.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and supporting regional IT networks and data infrastructure.
• Proven ability to ensure high availability, security and resilience of critical systems.
• Ability to mentor colleagues and coordinate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist support for Local and Wide Area Networks across NHS Dumfries & Galloway.
• Deliver expert support for server environments including Microsoft Server, VMware, Unix/Linux.
• Manage Cisco network, wireless, telephony, and firewall technologies.
