Job summary

Avanti Recruitment seeks an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to support a major M&A infrastructure integration programme. This is a hands-on role stabilising, migrating and integrating a legacy IT environment into a large enterprise infrastructure across servers, virtualization, networking, storage and data migration.

You will work on Windows Server and Dell hardware, VMware/Hyper-V, Cisco Meraki, Veeam, NAS storage, plan migrations, and provide senior escalation and knowledge

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server and Dell hardware.
• Proficient in VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization.
• Experience configuring Cisco Meraki networking and VLANs.
• Familiar with Veeam Backup & Replication and NAS storage.
• Strong skills in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and data migrations.

Responsibilities

• Support and migrate Windows Server and Dell infrastructure.
• Manage VMware and/or Hyper-V environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco Meraki networking.
• Plan and execute server and data migrations.
• Produce migration plans and technical documentation.
• Act as senior escalation point for infrastructure issues.
• Provide knowledge transfer to junior engineers.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to support a major M&A infrastructure integration programme.

This is a highly hands-on position where you will help stabilise, migrate and integrate a legacy IT environment into a large enterprise infrastructure. You will work across servers, virtualisation, networking, storage, backups and data migration, while ensuring changes are delivered securely and with minimal disruption.

The Role

• Supporting and migrating Windows Server and Dell infrastructure
• Managing VMware and/or Hyper-V environments
• Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Meraki networking
• Managing VLANs, ACLs, firewall rules and network segmentation
• Supporting Veeam Backup & Replication
• Managing QNAP/NAS storage
• Planning and executing server and data migrations
• Racking, unracking, cabling and legacy infrastructure decommissioning
• Producing technical documentation and migration plans
• Acting as a senior escalation point for infrastructure issues
• Providing knowledge transfer and support to junior engineers

What We're Looking For

You will need strong hands-on experience with:

• Windows Server
• Dell server hardware
• VMware and/or Hyper-V
• Cisco Meraki
• Veeam Backup & Replication
• QNAP or similar NAS/storage technologies
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and routing
• Infrastructure and data migrations

Previous experience working on M&A integrations, infrastructure transformation or large-scale migration programmes would be highly advantageous.

Knowledge of Active Directory, Entra ID, cloud environments, SaaS tenant migrations or Linux would also be beneficial.

Contract Details

• Location: Motherwell, Scotland
• Working pattern: 5 days per week on-site
• Contract: 6 months
• IR35: Inside IR34
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Start date: 28 September
• Travel: Occasional travel to other sites required
• Driving licence: Essential
