Job summary

The Government Commercial Agency (GCA) in the UK is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to lead the design of complex, high-impact transactional services, ensuring accessible and intuitive digital experiences.

Reporting to Head of UCD, you will manage contractors, guide design across Discovery to Live phases, and collaborate with researchers, content designers and engineers. The role supports flexible working, with a hybrid model and a 25-day annual leave scheme.

Qualifications

• Proven end-to-end interaction design experience in Agile.
• Prototyping with Figma, HTML/CSS, or design toolkits.
• Expertise in WCAG 2.2 inclusive design.
• Design systems: GOV.UK Design System adoption and extension.
• Evidence-based design supported by user research.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end journey design across complex user flows.
• Create prototypes across fidelity using Figma or HTML/CSS.
• Ensure accessibility and inclusive design across touchpoints.
• Extend GOV.UK Design System with reusable UI patterns.
• Collaborate with researchers, content designers and analytics.
• Translate policy/tech constraints into human-centered solutions.
• Lead design workshops and cross-functional alignment.
• Provide design leadership across Discovery to Live phases.
• Line manage and mentor contract team members.
