Job summary

Adecco are pleased to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for the Thames Valley Police Force in Newbury. The role is a temporary contract with a daily rate of 650, full-time hours, hybrid pattern. DV clearance is required.

The candidate will deliver Hyper‑V cluster design, PKI implementation, and secure migrations, working with ICT resources across multiple sites. Responsibilities include migration, monitoring, security hardening, and knowledge transfer, with alignment to local governance

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in implementing Microsoft Hyper‑V clusters and server migrations.
• Strong knowledge of PKI solutions and network security practices.
• Proven ability to produce detailed technical documentation.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and proactive problem solving.
• Active National Security vetting (DV) and capability for Police Vetting (NPPV3).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a two-site Hyper‑V cluster with high availability.
• Migrate ~40 devices (20 physical, 20 virtual) with governance compliance.
• Provision and harden platform for monitoring and PKI services.
• Design and deploy a Microsoft-based Certificate Authority and PKI solution.
• Document deployment and provide knowledge transfer to ICT resources.

Daily Rate: 650 per day
Contract Length: October 2027
Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm 37 hours per week, Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the following:

Hyper‑V Cluster Design and Implementation

• Establish a resilient, two‑site Microsoft Hyper‑V cluster to replace existing infrastructure.
• Validate cluster performance and ensure high availability.
• Prepare detailed solution design documentation.

Evaluation and Migration of Existing Systems

• Assess and migrate approximately 40 devices (20 physical and 20 virtual) to the new platform.
• Ensure compliance with local governance standards during upgrades and patches.
• Engage in migration testing and service validation.

Monitoring Platform Infrastructure

• Provision new virtual servers for network monitoring applications.
• Apply security hardening and patching in line with best practises.
• Validate platform readiness alongside local ICT resources.

Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Design and Deployment

• Design and implement a Microsoft-based Certificate Authority and PKI solution.
• Conduct integration with Active Directory and network vendor equipment.
• Provide comprehensive documentation and knowledge transfer to ICT resources.
