Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking an exceptional Bid/Proposals Technical Author at Associate Director level to lead high-quality proposal narratives across our major infrastructure portfolio. Ideally London, with hybrid options for Bath, Manchester or Leeds.

You will translate complex technical solutions into clear and persuasive submissions, shaping responses to evaluation criteria while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and advancing our major infrastructure growth in the UK.

Qualifications

• Exceptional writing, editing and content-structuring skills.
• Significant experience in proposal authoring, bid writing or technical writing within engineering, infrastructure, or government environments.
• Strong track record of shaping high-scoring submissions for major bids.
• Experience with public-sector bids and frameworks, collaborating with technical experts.
• Ability to translate complex client requirements into clear, persuasive content.
• Experience in design and build environments and stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the authorship of technical responses for major infrastructure bids.
• Create precise, compliant and persuasive content aligned with client requirements and evaluation criteria.
• Interpret evaluation frameworks and shape responses that address scoring criteria.
• Turn complex methodologies and value propositions into engaging narratives.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary responses and strengthen contributions from collaborators.
• Review content for quality, completeness and compliance.
• Collaborate with bid, resourcing and commercial leads to align with delivery plans.
• Manage bid quality assurance processes and stage reviews.
• Support pipeline planning and apply lessons learned to future submissions.
• Develop tailored case studies and value narratives for infrastructure markets.
• Contribute to marketing and thought-leadership content.
• Mentor colleagues and champion continuous improvement in technical writing, including AI usage.
