Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Consultant to provide senior-level consultancy, operational support, and technical leadership across complex customer environments. The role spans on-prem, hybrid, and cloud tech including Exchange, M365, Azure, Windows Server, Citrix, virtualization, and security.

You will act as a senior escalation point and drive service reliability and improvements. Eligible for UK Security Check clearance; you will mentor engineers, produce designs and runbooks,

Qualifications

• 7+ years in enterprise infrastructure consultancy, engineering, managed services, or technical operations.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server/Exchange Online, including hybrid configuration, migrations, mail flow, security and HA.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Citrix technologies in enterprise environments (VAD, StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, Citrix Gateway/ADC, profile management).
• Broad experience with on-premises and hybrid infrastructure (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, VMware/Hyper-V, storage, backup, networking).
• Practical experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure, linking cloud and on-premises platforms.
• Proven ability to analyse and resolve complex issues across messaging, end-user computing, identity, server, virtualization, networking, monitoring and security.
• Experience leading technical discovery, designs/implementation plans, risk assessment, and controlled changes.
• Strong ITIL practices and experience in a managed service/enterprise environment.
• Excellent customer-facing communication, stakeholder management, and knowledge transfer.
• Eligible to obtain UK Security Check clearance; vetting may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior consultancy and infrastructure support across multiple managed service customers and technologies.
• Act as technical escalation point for Exchange, Citrix, Windows Server, identity, virtualization, networking, backup, monitoring, and cloud incidents.
• Support and optimise Exchange Server/Exchange Online, migrations, mail flow, security, availability, and DR.
• Work with customers and teams to gather requirements, perform discovery, design solutions, implement changes, and drive improvements.
• Mentor engineers and provide clear customer-facing updates on incidents, changes and progress.
• Maintain designs, runbooks, and knowledge articles; follow ITIL/ISO 20000 processes.
• Support hybrid and on-premises environments including VMware, Hyper-V, AD, DNS, DHCP, M365, Azure, storage and network services.
